Fluoridation

The American Dental Association has recommended fluoridation for over 50 years and continues to stress the importance of this simple method of cavity prevention. Since Massachusetts does not mandate fluoridation in all towns, we are forced to carefully identify communities where the water supply is unfluoridated and children who live there will need supplementation. We provide below a list of the communities and their respective status's per a Massachusetts Department of Public Health statement. For those persons in towns without fluoridation or with partially fluoridated water supplies, please check with your physician or provider to see if you need a prescription. If you have private well water, the best approach is to have the water tested for fluoride content to determine if you need a prescription.
